After looking back at your monitor woes, I just thought of something: Is your monitor still under a warranty of some kind? Because it's been my experience that a monitor starts to flicker like mad when it's about to die. Perhaps they "can't see the problem" because if they did, they'd have to acknowledge that it's dying and give you a new one. However, if the warranty's close to expiring, they can just claim it's fine and hope it holds out until the warranty's out, then it's YOUR problem.
Unless, of course, it's an LCD... then my "dying flicker" theory is probably out the window. Though, I have worked on quite a few LCD monitors that flicker, and I can definitely sympathize with you. Oy, it's murder on the eyes!
