For what it's worth... my IM info is on my profile, and I don't mind people IMing me. (Note that I don't use Yahoo IM anymore so don't bother adding that.) There's also LJTalk, but that keeps disconnecting me.

However, also note that I tend to forget to set myself as being "away" or take away my away message when I'm back. So don't be afraid to send me a message even if I'm away, and don't take it personally if I don't respond even though I don't have an away message up.

LJTalk's kinda unstable, just have it reconnect you and all will be fine.

Heh, I do. It just disconnects me again a half hour later, so I've taken to only putting it up when I feel like it.
