There's a mosque about a quarter mile from my house. It's no big deal that it's there, really, except that it means traffic's screwed up on Fridays. There were some (rather poorly) organized protests after the 9/11/01 attacks, and several bomb threats (none of which led to anything beyond increased security.)

But this? It just pisses me off that they have to do this.

They've had to put up signs on the wall around it saying things like "Muslims are peacemakers" and "We are not the terrorists."

I'm just sickened that this is an environment in which they need to do that.

There have also been complaints about the prayer calling (can't remember the term for it right now...). Which is ridiculous, considering that it's barely audible. I can't hear it from here. The church bells in Danville are much louder (and ring more often, and there are more of them). And yet people are complaining about it.

Bastards.

At least Dad's making fries tonight. I love his french fries.

Oh, no. French. I must be a terrorist.

Reminds me of that World War 2-era photo of the Japanese-owned business with the big sign over it saying "I AM AN AMERICAN." Good to see we're still contributing to our rich history. Way to go, America.

The proper term is "call to prayer".

That's bullshit that they should have to do that. The freak terrorists are not mainstream Muslims, and muslims as a whole are peaceful. Ugh.

You may wish to call the mosque up, see if there's anything you can do to help them against the frighten-ists (those who don't wish to create terror, merely fright, and therefore simply intimidate, rather than harm, their enemies).

But everybody knows that the Qu'ran commands all Muslims to kill any and all nonbelievers they meet! Shuh, of course they're terrorists!
/sarcasm
Yeah, I've read the Qu'ran several times, and I must say the Surih of Killing Everybody Else managed to elude me each time. Guess I wasn't paying attention. :P

I don't really know what to say to that...I agree with what's already been expressed.
