The amendment in question actually failed by 12 votes. They needed a 60% "super majority" to get it to pass. And just like HopefulNebula, I support gay marriage.
I am embarrased to have to admit that I never voted for Sen. McCain while I had the chance. Nice guy, too; I met him in high school. He had some pretty interesting things to say regarding the proposed amendment, it looks like. ;) But anyway, whee!
