Oct. 10th, 2005 11:28 amI slept through chem again today. Barely halfway through the term and I've used up all the unexcused absences I'm allowed before the professor starts docking my grade. Combine that with the fact that although I didn't bomb the exam, I didn't do all that great on it either, and the fact that I know I didn't do very well on my AmLit exam (very bad for an English major), and I've had to make a decision. It's time to start limiting the time I spend online. From now on:
-I will spend no time online in a day until I have finished the work I have due the next day. It's generally mostly reading, which is tough for me to do while sitting at the computer, and it goes much faster when I'm not talking with people online or constantly refreshing my friends page.
-Unless I'm not done with my homework, I will go to bed no later than 1 AM on the days before I have 8AM classes or other early days.
-Yes, this means I won't be on IRC or IM at all some days. I *will* always check my e-mail once daily, and post to
legible_icons when it's my week to run the contest. If you really need me to be online right then, you can send me a text message via the link on my user info, or directly if you know my number.
-I only see a bunch of you online--this is why this is such a tough decision for me. But my grades, and above all, my health, have to take priority, and it's certainly not healthy for me to be freaking out about my grades when I can very easily bring them up.
Every teacher I've ever really liked has said something along the lines of "just work a bit harder and you'll really have it." It's time I found that out for myself.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have stuff to read for Philosophy.
