Went to Air Guitar last night. Suppose it may have been fun if I'd been drunk. Lasted 40 minutes before leaving, though. Got grossed out by two of the guys who organized it. You know what mullets look like. These were MULLETS. Frightening.

And that bug that's been going around the hall? Guess who has it. I've damn near lost my voice. And I feel like shit.

Unfortunately, it's the nature of various student-organised functions that they're only fun if you are drunk, like being around drunks, like getting hit on by drunks, are the sort of person who likes to go out and score with drunks, etc...
Maybe there's something more suited to you in either the college community (Dungeons & Dragons games, in particular, tend to be an evening activity), or in the local area (maybe there's a local creative writing group, book club, Starfleet International (http://www.sfi.org/regions/us-index.html) chapter, or something similar located off-campus) that you'd enjoy more. There was never anything like that where I've studied in the past, so I had to content myself with not much of a social life. I think on reflection I'd rather be isolated or a pariah than an alcoholic or a boor.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I'm currently scared half to death about starting the new semester tomorrow, mostly due to my track record.

Yeah...I checked out Air Guitar around 10pm, stayed long enough to see our hall (and other people from Yerkes, too, even tho they called them up by "3rd Yerkes") dance and then came back to the dorm. A few of the dancers came back to get alcohol for themselves, so I caught a ride back (because I'm sure as hell not walking alone out there) and then hung out with Billy and his roommate. Next party we should have the Quantum Leap marathon! haha

Well yeah, that's what air guitar competitions are all about. Air guitar if naff, we all know that, you don't go and perform seriously. Add a mullet, acid wash black jeans and some sort of ugly t-shirt and it's the epitome of air guitar culture.
