Fun at Wally World.
Sep. 24th, 2004 10:08 pmWhoo. Just ran down to the local Wal-Mart *shudders*. As much as I loathe Wal-Mart, it's kinda the only place to get a lot of things. Anyway, they're running a contest where if you bring a cart in from the parking lot (and there are loads; more outside than inside), you can enter to win a $25 giftcard. So the 4 others with me and I decided "What the hell, it's possibly free stuff" and entered. I was last to sign and the little old lady greeter walked up to me. The following conversation ensued.
Greeter: I'm sorry, young lady. You can't sign that ticket.
Me: Why not?
G: You're not 18.
Me: Yes, I am.
G: No, you aren't.
Me: *sighs and pulls out ID* See?
G: But you don't look 18. (to one of my friends) Does she look 18 to you?
Friend: Yeah. Kinda. I don't know.
G: OK, young lady. You can sign.
Am I the only person I know who *wants* to look older? And whatever happened to common courtesy? I understand being carded. Happens all the time. But why can't people say "Excuse me, may I see your ID?" instead of "You're not 18."?
Morons.
I may x-post this at
mock_the_stupid later on. Let me know if it's mock-worthy. Maybe just for
mocktheignorant.
