Oct. 7th, 2004 05:01 pmThere was a blood drive today and since I'm finally legal for it, I just donated. They were giving out t-shirts for anyone who donated blood. And in typical fashion (read: this always happens to me), they were out of small shirts. And medium. And large.
Yup. I'm the proud owner of another extra-largepillowcase t-shirt. I think I'll hang on to all the cool shirts I have that don't fit (most are too big; one's too small) and sew them into a blanket or a curtain or something. It's not really that hard... And I have loads. Since my neighbors go to every World Cup and summer Olympic Games, I have shirts from there (they usually get me shirts that fit but often they can't find something that'd fit me. It's a shame because they have a really good sense of the type of shirt I like. The shirt they gave me from Athens they could only find in an extra-small that fit until I washed it.), I have free shirts from Centre, I have shirts that well-meaning relatives who can't comprehend that I am not a Large give me from their travels, shirts from high school (although I'm pillowficating the "theatrical logic" one)... Problem is, I love the shirts. If only they'd fit.
And I can't wait until the thank-you/your blood was fine/etc. card comes to my home address. My mom's of the school that women shouldn't give blood because they menstruate. Kinda hypocritical because she gave blood until she was diagnosed with lupus. I point that out, she tells me that times were different then, I politely change the subject. I've learned over the years how to pick my battles.
In other news, I found some paperwork that had gone missing. Namely, the letter
zogblog sent me. (By the way, it was on the 18th.)
Downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird today. I tried for a while to connect it with my Yahoo account and that didn't take. Then I remembered that only paid Yahoo folks get POP3 access. So then I tried my Centremail address and after a bit of tweaking it worked. Never worked with Outlook Express when I'd tried it on that. Saves me having to use the web access. And Mozilla rocks.
