Lesson of the day:

Violence in the media doesn't make people violent.

Listening to people spread lies about violence in the media makes people violent.

(In particular, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold didn't listen to Marilyn Manson, and Seung-Hui Cho didn't play video games.)

To date, five minutes of watching Fox News and/or Nancy Grace have made me feel more aggressive than any action movie, song, or video game.

It isn't that this plain truth isn't obvious to anyone with half a brain -- it's that it's a trick, a dodge, part of a long-running and deliberate effort to control ideas and information. Authoritarian types are driven out of their mind by 'artsy' types, who seem to think their work should serve some purpose other than forwarding a political agenda (but only the right kind of agenda).

People who do believe the canard you cited above are frightened and stupid and don't understand the first thing about how the world works.
