Nov. 28th, 2004 07:45 pmOh. By the way, I'm missing a keyboard key. Long story short, I had taken off the dash key on my keyboard (Sony Vaio VGN A190) because it had something under it. I cleared out the obstruction and when I put it back on, a big ol' dude in the airport (my flight out of DEN was delayed 90 minutes and I had little else to do)... keep in mind, when I say "big ol'", I mean about 370 pounds... sat in the seat behind mine (our backs were to one another) and jostled me at just the wrong moment. So two of the little hooks that are supposed to hold the key to the circuit board under it are gone. Well, they got flattened by the jostling, and when I tried to ease them back up, they came off. I'll be calling the tech people from where I got this tomorrow but I want to avoid any surprises, so my question is this: would replacing the keyboard circuit board entail a hard drive wipe? I've been burned by enough tech people to be wary of letting them back up my files and settings (not to mention the 2.5 gigs of music on my iPod [been burned by that too, because of a HD wipe]).
