Nice and warm, nice and warm, heater's working, nice and warm...

OK, so.  I promised everyone my travel story.  So here goes.  My flight from DEN to CLT was scheduled for 10:30 AM so because it was icy out and it was the weekend after Thanksgiving, I arrived at the airport at 8:45.  Spent all of five minutes in line at security (though it took longer than that to get everything I had to have taken off and taken out and put away taken care of.  Flight got delayed a half hour due to aircraft availability.  Then after boarding the plane, we waited over an hour to be deiced.  Keep in mind, my stopover in CLT was scheduled to be just over ninety minutes.  I arrived in CLT exactly five minutes before my connection was scheduled to depart.  I ran like hell to the gate (two concourses away).  This flight was slightly overbooked so I wasn't even sure if I had a seat at that time.  Turns out I did, but I was the last person on the plane.  Literally, I got on the plane and they shut the door.  It was the same kind of plane that I had such a hard time with on Wednesday but this time I was seated near the back, away from the prop.  Noise was still there but hardly as pervasive, and the fact that there was no adverse weather certainly helped.  Smoothest landing I've ever experienced, too.

The people were so nice, though.  All the flight attendants and gate agents, the people who were willing to change seats so the family of six could sit together (and the kids were *very* well behaved--one of them even drew a picture for the flight staff, and the staff thanked her for it over the PA!).  Everyone took the delay well; they were obviously dissapointed and cranky but they were still nice to everyone.  Not like that asshole behind me last time.

When we were starting our descent into CLT, we passed Mount Mitchell, which at 6600 feet above sea level is the highest point in the US east of the Mississippi.  My house is 6400 feet above sea level.  That was good for a laugh.

Heh, my house is about 359 feet above sea level.

Yeah, you had a much better time on the way back. I felt sorry for you because of your description of the way there. (of course, i've never been on a prop-plane before)
