OK, I have this very cool beaded curtain to put in my room, as I have a hallway of sorts between the door and my room.  Unfortunately, it's about 1/2 inch too wide for the hallway so I have to put it up right at the end of the hallway.  I tried packing tape and Blu-Tak, which held very, very well for about two days and then fell.  Any suggestions on something better I can use without driving holes into the walls?

You could always hang it slightly diagonally across the hallway to make up for the extra half inch. Anyway, keep an eye out for 3M command stick products. They're designed in a various range of hooks, cable ties, picture hangers, etc with the one similar feature being the adhesive. It's a pad that sticks to the hook (etc) on one side, and then a wall side adhesive. Half (one end) the adhesive pad thing has no sticky stuff on it, and is used to remove the pad after you're done with it, and leaving no marks on the wall. Hold hook/fixture, slowly pull the un-sticky tab. Stretches the whole adhesive pad out and comes off the wall seamlessly.
No paint/varnish removed.
They're also very, very strong. The pack for the ones you buy will have the weight/strength rating, as well as re-usable fixtures with more sticky pads than you can use once. Marketed towards college dorm/rental people.

Oh yeah. I use those for my calendar thing on my wall. I think they also hold up our message board on the door.

Indeed, for Duct Tape is like the Force: it has a dark side, it has a light side, and it holds the universe together.
