Well, I didn't get invited back to anything.  Frell.

What pisses me off, though, is the fact that I've been itching for an excuse to wear the skirt I was gonna wear tonight.

From what I understand, 'rush week' is about getting back to the start of the term/semester and the organised social societies of the campus hold parties to entice or woo potential members? And you haven't been invited back by any of the groups in question, so now have no opportunity to wear said skirt?
My first thought was, create your own house society thingy! Then I thought, hrm, that may cost a fair bit of money, as america's like that. But a chance to wear said skirt - I say dress up, leave the house late at night, walk all the 'going home' (and safe) routes all dressed up and then go home. Go for a stroll, be lovely in the moonlight, and bugger those silly groups :) Exercise and flaunting! I like it!

We don't have fraternities/sororities at all in Australian universities. Many clubs to join, but nothing quite like the system over there. We just play together. Alcohol abuse is still rife, but it generally happens in cheap bars rather than on campus, as drinking age is 18 here. No deaths on campus, unless someone's hit by a runaway lawnmower or experiement gone wrong :)
The whole 'greek society' thing gets a very ugly wrap in other countries.

In australia, it's called 'O-Week', which is simply short for orientation week. Lots of how-to seminars, introductions to things, holding the new kids' hands. Lots of live bands and things like that, but more of a celebration or festival rather than a mess of drunken parties and videogames :)
A helpful/introducing time rather than a popularity contest. Fear not! I still love you, even if those funny groups might not :)

Greek society - if the professors were taking young students of their own gender to use for sex, then it might be a bit more realistic ;)
The whole 'greek sex' thing was from those origins, but only between teacher and student, where they were mostly male to start with and the young lads were adopted by older wiser men, to teach and to fuck. No, the students never got to be the top :)
So even back then, anal sex was a power/status thing. Aaah, when things were simple ;)

Bah. Greek orgs are overrated anyway (unless it's the service and/or honor society kind... *polishes shiny PBK pin* ;) I say enjoy your heat wave and wear the skirt anyway!

We're having a heat wave ourselves. It's really weird; I'm wearing no jacket and short sleeves, but I'm still slipping over ice. 0.o

You didn't get invited back to any sororities? Hey, congratulations! If you ate lunch at Cowan today then you know you're not missing terribly much...Well, I s'pose that goes more for fraternities, but I expect something equivalent from the sororities.

I was hoping that you were just talking about Centre. As for the skirt, go ahead and wear it. After all, you might just make someone jealous COUGHchalyandmyselfCOUGH.
