Phonathon went much better for me tonight, except almost no one answered their phone. I only got three donations but that seemed to be about the average. And the conversations I did have were on the whole much better. Case in point, the last donation:

Phone: *ringring*
Phi Delt: Hello?
Me: Hi! *spiel*
Phi Delt: Hmm. I've donated before. Do you have that on record somewhere?
Me: *looks* Yeah... it says you donated last April.
Phi Delt: OK. Hmm, you said you're a freshman?
Me: Yes.
Phi Delt: Why don't they have more upperclassmen calling?
Me: Well, it's a volunteer thing, and I volunteered.
Phi Delt: Okay. So... what do you think is the best fraternity at Centre?
Me: Umm. *checks the sheet* Phi Delt!
Phi Delt: D'you have that on your information sheet?
Me (coyly): ...Maaaaybe...
Phi Delt: Well?
Me: Yeah. *laugh*
Phi Delt: *laugh* Well, at any rate, that's the right answer. Put me down for $100.

And one of the other people specified that her donation go to the study abroad programs. We spent a few minutes talking about Strasbourg. All but two of my refusals were nice about it ("I'd love to donate, sweetie, but I just can't right now" rather than just "no"). And there was one guy in Amherst whose answering machine was completely dorky. Muahahahah. I ♥ nerds.

*runs off to read more of the Canterbury Tales

Oh. I ended up sleeping for four hours this afternoon and am completely exhausted again. I hate being sick.

Having a good time with the Phonathon, I see. What exactly are you getting people to donate to, if I may ask? I know a little bit about the Canterbury Tales, but i've suprisingly never read it. Get better soon, Lizzy.
