Seventeen years of trying, and I've finally done it. Finally seen a lunar eclipse. Seventeen years of the weather hating me, and of the homework hating me, and of me forgetting dates, but I've finally done it. I've seen one.

A good one, too.

Unfortunately, it's also way too damn cold for me to be standing out there.

I had to chuckle, though, at the people behind me who were so amazed that you could REALLY HONEST TO GOD SEE OTHER PLANETS IN THE SKY during this eclipse. I was too busy laughing to say something suitably pithy... and what do you say to that, anyway?

It's, what, 8:50 back home? I wonder if my uncle's taken the girls out to see. I tried for my first eclipse at four...

Saturn was to the left of Luna; had you a telescope, you would've been able to see rings. The bright start above & to the right was Regulus, Alpha Leonis.

Hear tell there's a partial later this year as well as a total solar.

Yeah... just don't try it in winter. Then it becomes hell on Earth.

Oh, and I saw the eclipse too. 'twas cool.

I've been there in winter. January to April 1992.

I was happy that it was at a reasonable hour for once. I saw another eclipse last year, but had to get up super early in the morning to do it. Unfun.
