OH MY GOD.
TEMPLE GRANDIN IS GOING TO BE AT THE TATTERED COVER A WEEK FROM TODAY. AND I CAN GET THERE FROM WORK, EASY.
AND IT'S THE DAY AFTER PAYDAY, WHICH IS KIND OF DANGEROUS TO GO TO TATTERED COVER THEN, BUT IT'S TEMPLE GRANDIN SO IT'S OK.
</gratuitous capslock>
(Yes, I shouted about it in real life when I realized this. Just passing the sentiment on.)

OK, so: before the "frell you" incident in my last entry, yesterday sucked. It was the kind of day where everything goes wrong, but not so wrong that you feel justified about whining about.
Today? Totally the opposite. My bus to work was right on time. I was able to catch an early light rail connection because of it and because the train waited at the station for a minute. (I was at the crossbridge over the tracks when it showed up, and I wasn't expecting to be able to catch that. Usually I don't.)
At work, I did some math and realized that with my performance this month, I'll most likely be getting a not unsubstantial bonus at the beginning of next month. I ate lunch at The Original Pancake House, which is always a treat. (NOM NOM NOM.) And the CEO bought me a soda.
And Tianna and I are going to the Avs game tomorrow! *squeeeePOP*
Also, there's a cat in a shoebox next to my chair.
In summary:
I feel badass,
Oh, so badass,
I feel badass and pwnful and smrt!
And I can't think of a fourth line, but the first three get the general gist of it through.

And now, the big thing.
Apr. 10th, 2008 05:13 pmI was going to post this last night, but spent most of the night fighting Satan's own sinus headache. (And I don't even have a sinus infection, is the thing. There must be something I'm allergic to.)
Anyway.
This is big, both literally and figuratively, so I'm going to just do the small, illegible version here. If you click on it, it'll bring you to the full-size scan.
( I made it onto the opinion page of the local paper. )
Alternately, it's available (and machine-readable!) on the website.
And despite what my icon says, the best part of this is the fact that I've gotten four e-mails in the last day thanking me for having the courage to write it.
Also, it may not be the first thing I've had in the paper (I'm an intern there, after all), but it's what I want to be remembered for.

Mar. 7th, 2008 11:45 amI made the front page.
I made the front page.
A STORY I WROTE MADE THE FRONT PAGE.
(Unfortunately, it's not up on the website. Expect a scan... well, whenever I can get around to making a scan of it.)
See, I told you I'd be more than a Coffee Delivery Technician.
I feel like I've been transported into some alternate universe where I can succeed and José Theodore is a good goaltender.
(Also, I need to go in and consolidate my tags. Funny though it is that I have "squee," "happydance" and "yay" tags, they're probably a bit redundant.)

Feb. 20th, 2008 10:48 pmSeventeen years of trying, and I've finally done it. Finally seen a lunar eclipse. Seventeen years of the weather hating me, and of the homework hating me, and of me forgetting dates, but I've finally done it. I've seen one.
A good one, too.
Unfortunately, it's also way too damn cold for me to be standing out there.
I had to chuckle, though, at the people behind me who were so amazed that you could REALLY HONEST TO GOD SEE OTHER PLANETS IN THE SKY during this eclipse. I was too busy laughing to say something suitably pithy... and what do you say to that, anyway?
It's, what, 8:50 back home? I wonder if my uncle's taken the girls out to see. I tried for my first eclipse at four...

FINALLY, GOOD NEWS!
Jan. 17th, 2008 10:37 pmKatie McCarron's killer was found guilty on all counts today.
I have NEVER in my life been so happy to make a wrong prediction.
(Very telling that even the woman's husband cheered at the verdict.)
(Apologies to any
autismhub followers who've seen this twelve times already.)
I think this week is starting to look a whole lot better.
(Especially since my precious boot disc is going to arrive tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed.)

I am doing my happy dance right now.
Dec. 28th, 2007 07:52 pmReally, I am. My arms are going all over the place and everything. (I get handflappy when I'm excited. Deal with it.)
The reason?
I'M GOING TO THE AVS/KINGS GAME TOMORROW!!!!!!!!! The world's best Christmas present.
newnebula is absolutely too awesome for words. *goes to do some more happydancing*
The irony of it is, my first ever Avs game was December 29th vs. LA. Though that was an evening game. I haven't been to a live game... gah, since 2003.
(Apologies to the, like, three of you who'll see this on your fpage twice)

Oct. 14th, 2007 09:23 pmOh my god. Squeeeeeeeee! I found an open wireless network in my host house. Granted, it's not my host family's, but it's not like I'm doing anything illegal, and people really need to password-protect their routers. Judging by the name, though, it's supposed to be public.
So. Anyway. Internet. Host house. Yay.
There goes getting any more work done tonight.

Sep. 27th, 2007 06:12 pmWell, that was pretty brain-breakingly awesome toward the end there.
( Heroes 2x01 spoilers. )
Still nowhere near "Godsend," "Unexpected," "Company Man," or "Five Years Gone," but still good.
In completely unrelated news, Olivia turns four today. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Jun. 12th, 2007 04:04 pmFYI: I'm going to be leaving for Nashville tomorrow morning and won't be back until Monday. I'm bringing my computer but I'm not sure what exactly there will be in the way of Net access. *shrug*

Copypasted more or less wholesale from the post I started on Flare. I'm lazy that way.

May. 4th, 2007 09:56 pmI was wondering why
i_wanna_puck was getting so many new members this week. Then I looked at LJ's main page.
EEEOMG we made LJ Spotlight! :D :D :D

Apr. 25th, 2007 10:36 pmOMG sooooooo cool. Even if the movie blows chunks it'll be money well spent, as it means staring at Daniel Craig for two hours.
...Crap. Know what I just realized?
I'm not going to be in the country for the opening. :(
Ti, I get back on December 19. Let's see this sometime after that, nu?
Also. A spider wha?
(not cutting because I want to see right away if it doesn't work; I'm testing LJ's new media embed stuff. Hoping it plays nicely with my client.

Mar. 27th, 2007 07:42 pmLife is good. Life is very good.
Not only do I have a decent roommate and a room for next year, but the room is one of the very few in the building they've set aside for study-abroad students that doesn't suck. (The rooms as a whole are tiny and the building in general isn't one of the best. That's why they have SAB people there: nobody wants to stay there a whole year.) Two words: ATTACHED BATH. (And 14 extra square feet. But there's a private, attached bathroom and only one other room on the hall. And it's on the first floor (which is why there's only two rooms--the rest is lounge & facilities). And it faces the quad instead of the parking lot.
And in all probability, my senior seminar in the spring is going to be on Irish poetry. Rock.
This totally makes up for the travel fiasco.
